MPEDA has generated a database of nearly 50000 aquaculture farms across the coastal states of India which is maintained in an online system. The procedure for Enrolment involves the collection of filled in Application form along with documents in proof of identity of the farmer, documents to prove ownership/possession and a photograph of the farmer. Relevant information pertaining to farm (Ownership status, Survey Number, Farm Area/Water Spread Area, Registration details), Farmer ( Name, Address, Phone number & Photograph) and Culture ( Type and Species) of the enroled farms are collected and maintained in the online database. MPEDA technical staff visits the farm for confirming the physical existence of the farm, and that it is under culture. The geographical location of the farm is recorded by the staff using a GPS device with high positional accuracy. Majority of brackish water aquaculture farms in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamilnadu, West Bengal and the union territories of Daman & Diu and Pondicherry are enroled with MPEDA. Each aquaculture farm enroled with MPEDA is identified by a Unique Identification number or FARMID and representative geographical coordinates of the farm. The application forms for enrolment are available at MPEDA Regional Centres (Aquaculture ), Sub regional centres (Aquaculture ), Satellite Centres, Offices of National Centre for Sustainable Aquaculture (NaCSA) in the Eastern Coastal States and ELISA Screening Laboratories operating in the maritime states. PHT(Pre Harvest Test) certificate issued by MPEDA ELISA Screening Laboratories is mandatory for farm produce exported to European Union and Farm Enrolment is a must for the issue of Pre Harvest Test certificate.
