Inauguration of harvest programme of seabass at Karaikal demo farm of RGCA
10 Jun 2021: Diverse-fish-aquaculture is the need of the hour-says Shri. K. S. Srinivas, IAS – Chairman MPEDA & President RGCA to boost the exports.
Shri K S Srinivas, Chairman MPEDA & President RGCA virtually inaugurated the harvest programme of seabass (Lates calcarifer) at Karaikal demonstration farm of RGCA at UT of Pondichery on today at 10th June 2021. Shri. R. Kaviyarasan, Dy. Director of Fisheries & Fishermen welfare, Dept of Fisheries, Govt. of Pondichery. Dr. M. Karthikeyan, Director MPEDA, Shri. K. S. Pradeep, IFS, Secretary MPEDA were present during the programme.
The harvested fish was handed over to the Shri. A. Paneer Selvam from Athiramapattinam. Several farmers and officials from MPEDA, NaCSA, NETFISH and RGCA participated virtually in the seabass fish harvest programme. The whole programme was coordinated by Project Director, RGCA and the team.
Chairman MPEDA requested the farming community and entrepreneurs to come forward to undertake profitable Seabass aquaculture as an alternative species for shrimp. MPEDA-RGCA is committed for implementing the diversified aquaculture by producing quality seeds of Seabass, Mud crab, GIFT , Cobia, Silver pompano and Etroplus.
